The 1689 Second London Baptist Confession of Faith
This is a more complete statement of faith, along with Scripture proofs. This Confession in no way replaces Scripture for us, however we believe it to be the best summary of Scriptural teaching on these issues.
1689 Baptist Confession of Faith
Written in modern English by Andrew Kerkham of the Reformed Baptist Churches of New Zealand.

Statement of Faith
Concise Statement
- We believe the Holy Scriptures, made up of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, are inerrant and sufficient to lead men to a knowledge of God, salvation, and God's will for His people.
- We believe in one God who exists eternally in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
- We believe that man is dead in his trespasses and sins, and unable to do that which is pleasing in the sight of God. He is justly under God's condemnation for sin, and is unable to save himself from this judgment.
- We believe that God, from eternity past, has elected to Himself a people that He has decreed to save by virtue of His grace, for His own good pleasure, of His own free will, for His divine purpose. He will convert the hearts of these people so they will no longer crave sin but will crave God and the things of God, and will freely call upon His name to be saved.
- We believe that God the Son, the Second Person of the Trinity, was born of flesh and blood, fully God and fully man, lived a perfect, sinless life, was crucified for the sins of His people, the elect, and rose again bodily on the third day.
- We believe that Christ will return at a time that no-one knows to render final judgment upon all creation.
- We believe that Christ established the Church and will continue to use His Church for His purposes until He returns. We believe that local churches are established to fulfil the Great Commission, to practice the ordinances of baptism and communion, to exercise discipline, to encourage the saints, to teach God's Word, and proclaim the gospel.
- We believe in the autonomy of the local church, and the rule over the local church by elders/pastors.
- We believe that the ordinance of baptism is only to be administered to believers, according to the terms of the New Covenant.
